We're in a season of hustle and bustle. In a time when we're living separate lives, limited face to face interactions, and often working from our pj's, we're starting to find that the projects that we've been procrastinating weren't because we were never home. Instead we're realizing it's because we don't carve out time in our day for them. You know what?! That's okay!
This isn't a season of comparison for any of us. A year ago we were just processing this pandemic and how life quickly felt out of control. We didn't realize it would be a constant state of uncertainty of what the next day, month, or year would bring. I have found consistency in a few things and I hope you have too. For me it's been the love of my family and friends, the value of connections and relationships, the beauty of each season and it's weather, and my need for art. Being an artist and art teacher that may seem like a no-brainer, but I've found its not necessarily about the need to create it. Although that is one of my favorite pastimes and ways to unwind, but my need to consume it each and every day. I'm not saying "a painting a day, keeps the ____ at bay", but that is a good one isn't it? ;) We forget to give ourselves permission to see the art in each day. Whether its the beauty of looking out our window and seeing the trees, flowers, snow, sunset, or birds. Listening to music and appreciating the melody and lyrics, eating a delicious meal that makes your mouth water, or watching a movie and recognizing how the producers use light and color to create shows that make you feel something. We often have art right in front of us, in all mediums, that goes unnoticed. Not because it isn't beautiful, but because we're just busy. So here's our reminder and permission. Give yourself permission to find art in your everyday. It may be where you least expect it. What did you see today? With Love, Ginny
